Cpt Mike and Cpt Darrell killed it today.
I got a bunch of single digit reports from other boats that quit so I was worried the bite died. It turns out it was a late bite (good thing they got fuel yesterday so they could stay late) and ended up with 29 tuna and lost a bunch with a crew of tuna virgins. A great first trip for Captain Mike. Mike C Yesterday was a little slow, but today Cpt Darrel and Cpt Craiger found them.
They ended up with 27 albacore and a 26 lb BFT! Fishing picked up everywhere. Lets hope we get another 2022 or better yet a 2019. Captain Mike Darrel and I took some old friends out salmon fishing and had a blast.
Easy limits of fat silvers on a flat ocean. Boats are starting to pick up more and more tuna closer in. Krai finally found some good schools of anchovies, so live bait is now available. We are eyeing next week for our first tuna run and can't wait. Captain Mike It looks like the 2023 tuna season has started.
El Jefe out of Garibaldi and another sport boat out of Westport both caught tuna today. The fish were near or inside the 125 line. The water looks great and there was a lot of bait. They should be here in good numbers within a week. We can't wait. Captain Mike |
