On 10/15 got a late afternoon call from a buddy (sat phone) who was 80 miles off shore and stacking the deck.

I called Clark and we decided to make one last run.

It was a long run on a nice ocean and we started to get fish right away.

We got a few small stops going and after about 4 hours we had the fish we wanted and headed home.

We did not plug the boat, but certainly could have with a full crew.

Time to start getting ready for next year.

It has been an incredible, incredible year.

I can't wait until next July.

Clark, Cooney, TJ, and I had to get the skunk off the boat and we were desperate.

Some commercial buddies told us about a bunch of fish around 80 miles out.

We left after lunch and ran out at 29 knots on a nice ocean.

We hit the honey hole and were surrounded by commercial boats.

Zeke, Captain of the Sunset Charge, called us in and put us on fish right away.

The fish were very, very skittish.

We got them boiling around the boat and jackpoled one and then they disappeared.

We kept at it and then shut down for the night.

Beer and fresh sashimi ended the day.

And then the wind picked up.

We were in the trough and it began to blow and roll.

Since I am the guy called captain, I pulled the first 9 hour shift.

Zero sleep on a shitty ocean.

Clark, of course, slept like a baby. 

We all got up (not woke up, as we did not sleep) an hour before first light and got ready to fish.

At first light we put lines out and hit fish right away.

We got 3 and then it ended.

35 miles later we were tired of trolling and picked up and ran home at 27 knots.

texted me that it was wide open out of Westport.

He has availability, the fish are there, and he is a damn good fisherman, so if you want October tuna, give Mark a call.

The Astoria Canyon is a desert right now, so we may be headed to Westport real soon if Mark keeps stacking the deck up north.

Great crew, great ocean, great boat ride.

No fish.

We know where the fish are, but they are too far to reach in a day trip.

Clark, John, TJ, and I are headed out to the 126 line and south to get our canning fish.

We are done chartering for the year and may be done fishing after tomorrow, but who knows?
