John and I and 15 of our fishing buddies booked the New Lo Ann (top tuna charter out of San Diego) for a 2.5 day trip.
We were all jacked up do to great reports and the New Lo Ann did not disappoint. Great boat, crew, and food. Day one was decent with 20 or so 30-55 lb BFT and YFT. Day two was a 9 hour bait stop with fish boiling the whole time. After wearing ourselves out, the crew deployed the kite and hooked a HUGE BFT. One "lucky" member of our crew fought it for 20 minutes and tapped out. The rest of us preferred to drink beer and watch, so Captain Adam grabbed the rod and fought "the biggest tuna ever" for 1.5 hours and the hooks pulled 50 ft from the boat. Damn. We hit the dock 12 hours later with close to two tons of YFT and BFT. We already booked a trip with them next year and can't wait. If the San Diego fishing keeps up, Clark and Shake N Bake are going to hang a hard left at the end of September and try our luck down south one of these days. Captain Mike
