Limits of lings on the shakedown run. Tuna soon.

We splashed Shake N Bake earlier this week and needed a shakedown run, so Clark said he would show me how to catch ling cod.

I called the usual suspects and we headed out.

7 limits later we were back at the dock.

I have a confirmed first hand report of tuna from Mark Coleman, who got some deep SW.

The water is shaping up and tuna should be in the Astoria Canyon by next weekend.

I will post up a report as soon as we find them.

How many miles to Astoria canyon? Any sign of tuna?

I know Astoria is 11 miles out, but it runs for 75 miles and I live in Minnesota and am wondering how far you have to go on a charter boat to find the tuna.

We run anywhere from 20 to 60 miles west.

Some of my buddies on commercial boats have caught a few fish 100 miles out, but nothing to speak of.

It looks like a "normal" year where the fish show up in mid July, unlike the last few years where they showed up in June.
