Big John crunched the numbers for the year and it was better than it felt like, as the end of the year was slow.
We ended up with a 19 fish per day average, which is great for anywhere else, but not our fishery.
It can't get any worse (I said this last year and was wrong) but with the El Nino and super slow year this year, I am pretty sure it will get better next year.
I talked to a few guys who have been chasing tuna out of Ilwaco for 40 plus years and was told that two slow years in a row is nothing new and is just part of the game.
We shall see.
